Account, workspace, and model basics

Your OnyxJar account gives you access to your workspace, where you can create and work with models. A model represents a subject area you want to understand, such as a project, service, business process, or application landscape.

This article explains the basic relationship between your account, workspace, and models, and what to check if you cannot find a model you expect to see.

Account and workspace

Your account is how you sign in to OnyxJar. Your workspace is the working area associated with that account, and it contains the models available to you.

In the current version, each account has one workspace. You do not need to choose between multiple workspaces to find your models.

Models in your workspace

A workspace can contain models for different subject areas. For example, you might keep one model for a transformation programme and another for an application landscape. Each model has its own structure and data.

To work with a model, open it from the model list presented in your workspace. If you are new to OnyxJar, see Create your first model for the starting workflow.

If you cannot find a model

First, check that you are signed in to the account you normally use with OnyxJar. Then return to your workspace and review the available model list.

If you recently created a model, confirm that the creation workflow completed successfully rather than being left before its final confirmation. If the model still does not appear, note what you did, what you expected to see, and any message displayed by the application before contacting support.

Keep each model focused

You do not need to put every subject into one large model. Separate models can make it easier to work with distinct areas of work, while relationships within each model show how its objects fit together.

For an introduction to the structure inside a model, read How an OnyxJar model is structured.
